Beaches Italian Village was constructed in 2008 as an expansion to the existing Beaches resort.  The jewel of the master plan includes The Piazza – restaurants & shops situated around a circular central plaza with an ancient Roman-style domed pavilion, fountains, an aqueduct, and festoon lighting.  The master plan covers a 9.0-acre site, providing the 180 new suites with amenities including a 14,000-s.f. swimming pool, 10 pool cabanas with TVs, fans and misters, outdoor seating for 5 bar/restaurants, fountains and sculptures along the walkways, beach boardwalks and beach showers.  Joan Piccalo was the landscape architect responsible for concept through detailed design and on-site observation.  Winner of 2011 Top 15 Atlantic Resorts by Conde Nast Traveler’s Readers Choice.  EDSA was the prime.
